A brief biography of Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi was born in a Hindu
family on 2 October 1869. His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi, and his mother
named Putlibai Gandhi attended university college London and inner temple. He
got married to Kasturba Gandhi in 1883 and had four children named Harilal, Manilal,
Ramdas and Devdas. After unsuccessful practice in the bar at law, he moved to
South Africa, where he spent many years with his family and raised his family.
In 1915 he returned to India, reorganized Indian peasants, farmers, and
downtrodden people to show rebellion against the land text.
After being the national congress leader, he visited the whole country to eradicate the poverty violence of women's rights and build a national plan against British rulers. In 1915 Gandhi started to wear Indian made dress, which is made by local Indian labor, and the name of that dress was dhoti and shawl. He wore that dress in order to be identified as a pride Indian.
He led two movements like Dandi salt march in 1930 and quit India
movement in 1942. He observed long fasts for self-purgation and political
protest. Gandhi had a vision of joint India in which all the nations of India
live happily, but the Muslims of the subcontinent did not want to live in the
country having Hindus in the majority; therefore, they demanded a separate
homeland having Muslims majority areas. In this scenario, religious, political,
and ethnic riots were broken out in the country. Gandhi visited the country
providing solace to people who were suffering badly. He continued observing
fasts to restore peace and prosperity in his country until his death. A
nationalist named Nathuram Godse assassinated Gandhi by firing three bullets in
his chest in 1948.
