East India Company came to India in order to search for new markets for their products in 17 century. And the company started to rule over India in 1757. Muslims and Hindus of the subcontinent started a rebellion against the British rulers in 1857.

British rulers crushed this rebellion with iron hands and get control of all institutions in their hands. When Muslims observed their miserable condition under the cruel rules of British, they started a movement which was being established by all Indian Muhammadan educational conference at Dhaka in 1906.

Because the situation had become worst due to the event of the division of Bengal and the Muslims had made their mind to get a separate homeland for the prosperity of Islam and their future generations. Muhammad Iqbal as president of the Muslim League has proposed the idea for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent in his address at Allahabad in 1930. And three years later, in 1933, the name of the separate land was suggested "Pakistan “by Chaudry Rahmat Ali. In 1940 the Lahore resolution was passed in which a clear sketch of Pakistan was shown before the Muslims of India.

After world war II it became difficult for the British rulers to control the enthusiastic movement of Muslims and the on-going riots of Hindus and Muslims.in 1946, Indian national congress become the biggest secular party of India to get a separate state. In February 1947 British president announce that they are going to live India finally.

Mountbatten chooses the day of 14 August to transfer the power as it's a victory over japan day. On 14 August, he moves the power to the Muslims of the subcontinent, and on 15 August, he gave the charge to the Indian government.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah took the oath as the first governor-general of Pakistan. Birth of Pakistan was announced by the radio; huge celebrations were made throughout the country. Mount baton administered the oath-taking ceremony of both India and Pakistan.

It was a great event for the Muslims of the subcontinent and the Muslims of the whole world, but along the celebrations, Muslims have to face a lot of cruelties and injustice and riots at the time of independence. They have to bear the loss of families, relations, land and belongings. A lot of stories have been imprinted on the pages of history.
